The collective of holders is known as ‘the huddle’, and the artist behind the famous penguins is Antoine Mingo - a man whose cartoon creations have now generated hundreds of millions in revenue.

Pudgy Penguins were created by college students Cole Thereum, and Clayton Patterson in July 2021. After being ousted by the community, the project was acquired by Luca Netz for 750 ETH, equivalent to $2.5 million. Since then, Pudgy Penguins have branched out into physical toys, animated shorts, and even into their own metaverse: Pudgy World.

Notable personalities who own Pudgy Penguins include now-convicted rapper Tory Lanez, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, and world-famous basketball star Steph Curry. Pudgy Penguins are also recognized for being the only collection to have been featured in the New York Times, and 1 of 5 collections auctioned at Sotheby's.

Not just famous for their toys, Pudgy Penguins has also achieved virality on social media, now boasting more than 17.5B GIF views. This puts them ahead of brand giants such as Pokémon (6.8B views), Star Wars (10.5B views), and even Disney (16.4B views).
